The Washington Capitals started the NHL PreSeason strong last night by beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-2 in their opener. I know it's preseason, but the idea is to get your team ready for the regular season and I think Bruce Boudreau has done that. Semyon Varlamov looked great by stopping all 20 shots he faced and veteran Matt Hendricks had a hat trick that should help his chances of sticking around. Alexander Semin added 3 assists and looked like he is in midseason form already. The Capitals will play another road game on Saturday at 8pm against the Nashville Predators.
